lyrics

I took you by your hand
And led you through the trees
Who’d have thought romance would bloom
In supermarket fields

When it started to get cold
And the time had come to leave
I fell walking back up the hill
And I dragged you down with me
And we laughed

Teenage memories
Seem so long ago
Looking back on it now
How were we to know?
We were living the best days of our lives
We were not afraid to let it show

Sweet sixteen season rolled around
And I saw you all dolled up
I was never one to dance
One look from you was enough
To twist the toe

Teenage memories
Seem so long ago
Looking back on it now
How were we to know?
We were living the best days of our lives
We were not afraid to let it show

I never meant to grow apart from you
There’s not always a whole lot you can do
When life leaves you
Behind

Teenage memories
Seem so long ago
Looking back on it now
How were we to know?
We were living the best days of our lives
We were not afraid to let it show
